| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Pauline Moore of Brownwood on the grand occasion of her | ||
| 105th birthday; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Pauline Moore was born May 4, 1912, in Macon, | ||
| Georgia; she graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon and went on | ||
| to earn a master's degree in religious education from the Woman's | ||
| Missionary Union Training School in Louisville, Kentucky; and | ||
| WHEREAS, During her time in Louisville, her future | ||
| husband, the late John Allen Moore, proposed to her in a letter | ||
| while he was serving as a missionary in Yugoslavia; they were | ||
| married in Rome in 1940 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage together | ||
| until John passed away; and | ||
| WHEREAS, They served together as missionaries in | ||
| Yugoslavia until they were forced out by the Nazis, whereupon | ||
| they continued their work in Austria and Switzerland; in 1951, | ||
| they adopted two children, Edward and Marilyn, from children's | ||
| homes in Germany; in 1978, the family moved to Brownwood, where | ||
| Mrs. Moore was active at First Baptist Church for many years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Pauline Moore has lived through times and | ||
| experienced events that many people only know through history | ||
| books; her life has given her a unique perspective on today's | ||
| society, and there is much to be learned from the wisdom she has | ||
| gained over the years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore is a beloved and respected member of | ||
| her community; she is noted for her warmth, her wit, and her wise | ||
| counsel, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest is | ||
| an inspiration to others; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Pauline Moore and extend to | ||
| her best wishes on the occasion of her 105th birthday; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as a memento of this milestone in her life. | ||
