SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 862
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Rachel Garner, who won top honors in the Women's
  Three-Position Smallbore Rifle competition at the National
  Junior Olympic Shooting Championships; and
 
         WHEREAS, Rachel won the competition in dominating fashion
  over an impressive field that included an Olympic gold medalist;
  she recorded a score of 1,172 out of a possible 1,200 and earned
  an automatic spot on the Junior World Championship team, which
  will compete this summer in Suhl, Germany; and
 
         WHEREAS, A student at Texas Christian University, Rachel
  also enjoyed great success at the recent National Collegiate
  Athletic Association Rifle Championship, where she led the
  Horned Frogs to a second place finish; she was subsequently named
  for the second time as a first-team All American; and
 
         WHEREAS, Rachel has demonstrated great talent and
  perseverance in winning this prestigious competition, and it is
  truly fitting that she receive special recognition; now, therefore,
  be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Rachel Garner on her victory at
  the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships and extend to
  her best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
