SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 791
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the inaugural class of the Rio Grande Valley
  Legislative Internship Program; and
         WHEREAS, This program is an academic initiative of The
  University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with funding from the UTRGV
  Foundation; it is administered by the university's Office of
  Governmental Relations and Department of Political Science and
  is under the direction of Dr. Ruth Ann Ragland; and
         WHEREAS, The program provides opportunities for students
  to serve in the office of a representative or senator from the Rio
  Grande Valley during a regular session of the Texas Legislature;
  interns earn academic credit, and their duties include drafting
  documents, analyzing proposals, performing research, and meeting
  with stakeholders; among the qualities critical to success in the
  program are integrity, good judgment, independent thinking,
  ingenuity, resourcefulness, and professionalism; and
         WHEREAS, The interns and the legislators in whose offices
  they served are: Ann Jacobo, Representative Eddie Lucio III;
  Carlos Pimentel, Representative Terry Canales; Arturo Limones,
  Representative Oscar Longoria; Jorge Luis Garza, Representative
  Ryan Guillen; Kassandra Aleman, Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa;
  Ilse Irena, Representative Armando Martinez; Alondra Galvan,
  Representative René Oliveira; Victoria Garcia, Senator Eddie
  Lucio Jr.; Sarahi Martinez, Representative Bobby Guerra; Julio
  Garza, Senator Judith Zaffirini; and Melissa Garza, Representative
  Sergio Muñoz Jr.; and
         WHEREAS, The members of the inaugural class of the Rio
  Grande Valley Legislative Internship Program have served with
  distinction in the Capitol offices of the Rio Grande Valley
  legislative delegation; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend the Rio Grande Valley Legislative
  Internship Program Class of 2017 and extend to its members best
  wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the class as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
