| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Mabel Rodriguez Permenter on the grand occasion of her | ||
| 100th birthday; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mabel Rodriguez was born on October 15, 1921, in | ||
| Seguin, Texas, where her father served as sheriff; her family | ||
| moved to Houston when she was a toddler, and she spent a happy | ||
| childhood there along with her three siblings; she later moved to | ||
| Abilene during her teenage years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mabel shared a loving marriage with the late Homer | ||
| Bunch, and she was joyful at taking on the role of stepmother to | ||
| his four children; she continued to live in Abilene after her | ||
| beloved husband's passing in 1967, and she later moved to La | ||
| Hacienda Nursing Home in Harlingen, where she is a cherished | ||
| resident; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This gracious lady continues to engage in life | ||
| with enthusiasm and joy; she delights in listening to Elvis songs | ||
| and mariachi music, and she can often be found belting out | ||
| karaoke tunes and enjoying her secret supply of her favorite | ||
| treats; she is a source of inspiration to those around her | ||
| through her kind heart and her lively spirit; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mabel Permenter is a truly beloved citizen, and | ||
| her 100th birthday is indeed a fitting occasion for her friends | ||
| and loved ones to express their admiration and affection; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize Mabel | ||
| Rodriguez Permenter as a treasured Texan and congratulate her on | ||
| her 100th birthday; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
