SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the members of the DeSoto Independent School District
  board on the occasion of School Board Recognition Month, which is
  being observed in January of 2023; and
         WHEREAS, The mission of public schools is to meet the
  diverse educational needs of all children and to instill in
  students the ability to become productive members of our
  democratic society; and
         WHEREAS, Local school board members are committed to the
  principle that all children can become successful leaders, and
  school board members work closely with parents, educators, and
  the community at large to create a solid foundation and vision
  for public schools; and
         WHEREAS, The exemplary volunteers who serve as members of
  the DeSoto Independent School District board have worked
  diligently to improve the present and future lives of the
  schoolchildren in the DeSoto community; these dedicated public
  officials can reflect with pride on their many accomplishments
  over the previous year as they look to the bright future ahead for
  the school district, and it is indeed fitting that they receive
  special recognition on their commitment to education and their
  many contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby commend the members of the DeSoto
  Independent School District board on their outstanding service
  and dedication and join Texans across the state in celebrating
  January of 2023 as School Board Recognition Month; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the board as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
