SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 62
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  John Geoffrey Warburton
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of John Geoffrey
  Warburton, who died December 28, 2012, at the age of 65; and
         WHEREAS, Geoff Warburton was born in Harlingen and grew up
  in Brownsville; he earned a bachelor's degree in government at
  The University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in
  history at The University of Texas--Pan American; and
         WHEREAS, He worked for a time as a teacher in Bryan and
  Brownsville before earning a law degree from the University of
  Houston and entering into a fulfilling 25-year career in the
  practice of law, during which he served the people of Brownsville
  as city attorney for 14 years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Warburton was active in his community as a
  member of the Brownsville Rotary Club and as a member of the
  Church of the Advent Episcopal; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
  gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
  counsel will not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, Geoff Warburton was beloved by many, and he leaves
  behind memories that will be treasured forever by all those who
  were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of John Geoffrey Warburton;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Geoff Warburton.
