SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 612
In Memory
of
Sergio A. Cisneros Sr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Sergio A. Cisneros Sr., who died
April 3, 2017, at the age of 89; and
WHEREAS, Sergio Cisneros was an exemplary citizen who was
widely respected and admired in his community for his many
achievements; and
WHEREAS, He was born on September 6, 1927, into one of
Brownsville's pioneer families, and he was a lifelong resident of
the city; and
WHEREAS, He served the nation with distinction as a member
of the United States Navy during World War II and in the Korean
War; and
WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife of 67 years, Maria E.
Orive Cisneros, were blessed with four children, Maria Cisneros
Boss, Patricia Cisneros Young, Dolores Cisneros Emerson, and the
late Sergio A. Cisneros Jr.; his seven grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren were a source of much pride and joy for him;
and
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave
generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel
will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his
life; and
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by
his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
family of Sergio A. Cisneros Sr.; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
memory of Sergio A. Cisneros Sr.
