Fay Meyer Dudney | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of League City in mourning the loss of Fay Meyer Dudney, | ||
who died March 14, 2017; and | ||
WHEREAS, Fay Dudney was born and raised in New Ulm, Texas; | ||
she graduated from Columbus High School, and she continued her | ||
education at Southwest Business Institute and later at the | ||
University of Houston; and | ||
WHEREAS, Fay married the late Dr. Ned Dudney in 1949, and | ||
they moved to League City five years later; they were blessed | ||
with three children, and their seven granddaughters and three | ||
great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dudney was an avid gardener who used her | ||
landscaping talent to help beautify her community; an active | ||
member and former president of the League City Garden Club, she | ||
played key roles in designing Helen's Garden and in preserving | ||
the area's beautiful oak trees; she was especially proud of her | ||
success in establishing a local oak tree registry; in 2009, the | ||
city's nature center was renamed the Dr. Ned and Fay Dudney Clear | ||
Creek Nature Center to honor their many contributions to | ||
protecting the area's vibrant landscape and environment; and | ||
WHEREAS, Fay also loved history, and she strived to make | ||
the public aware of the area's rich past through her work and | ||
leadership as a member of the League City Historical Society and | ||
at the Galveston County Historical Commission; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of deep spiritual devotion, Mrs. Dudney | ||
was a founding member of Saint Christopher's Episcopal Church; | ||
she was beloved throughout the community, and she leaves behind | ||
memories that will long be cherished by all who were privileged | ||
to share in her life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Fay Meyer Dudney; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Fay Dudney. | ||
