| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Texas A&M University men's track and field team, | ||
| which won the 2017 National Collegiate Athletic Association | ||
| Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Aggies seized the school's first men's indoor | ||
| track and field national championship on the strength of a win in | ||
| the meet's final event, the 4x400-meter relay; the Aggies set a | ||
| meet record with a time of 3:02.80 in the event and finished with | ||
| a total of 46 points, edging out the University of Florida by half | ||
| a point; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These student athletes have demonstrated great | ||
| talent and perseverance over the course of the season, and team | ||
| members can take great pride in their outstanding performance; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of head | ||
| coach Pat Henry and his staff, the Aggie men's track and field team | ||
| have developed the exceptional teamwork and discipline essential | ||
| to achieving this victory; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are proud of the Aggies for their | ||
| hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the Texas A&M | ||
| University men's track and field team on winning the 2017 | ||
| National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Indoor Track | ||
| and Field Championship; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
