SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 52
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Brownsville Independent School District Adult
  Continuing Education program for helping community residents
  build bright and prosperous futures; and
         WHEREAS, The Adult Continuing Education program in
  Brownsville provides services to a multicultural population of
  educationally and economically disadvantaged adult residents of
  Cameron County; and
         WHEREAS, The program serves the unique needs of the
  community by offering English as a Second Language and Adult
  Basic Education courses; the curriculum helps students improve
  their communication skills, discover new avenues for
  independence, and learn about current trends in employment and
  higher education; and
         WHEREAS, The adult education program encourages students
  to further themselves through workforce options, military
  service, or post-secondary education and fosters student success
  by connecting them with the resources they need to help them
  achieve their personalized goals; and
         WHEREAS, The devoted staff at the Adult Continuing
  Education program seeks to inspire students to recognize their
  own potential and to instill in students the confidence they need
  to achieve their dreams; they are indeed deserving of recognition
  for their exemplary service on behalf of the residents of Cameron
  County; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend all associated
  with the Brownsville Independent School District Adult
  Continuing Education program for helping to expand opportunities
  for disadvantaged residents of Cameron County and extend to them
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the program as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
