| WHEREAS, Keep Allen Beautiful and its volunteers and | ||
| affiliates received several impressive accolades at the 46th | ||
| annual Keep Texas Beautiful Conference held in San Antonio from | ||
| June 17 to 20, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Associated with Keep America Beautiful and Keep | ||
| Texas Beautiful, this successful civic conservation and | ||
| beautification program sponsors such education and outreach | ||
| initiatives as an Arbor Day poster contest, a reuse-a-shoe | ||
| contest, and a recycled art contest, as well as suggestions for | ||
| Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow service projects; Keep Allen | ||
| Beautiful also sponsors Adopt-a-Highway, Adopt-a-Waterway, and | ||
| Adopt-a-Spot cleanup efforts; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Keep Allen Beautiful received the Sustained | ||
| Excellence Award and was recognized as a Gold Star Affiliate for | ||
| the ninth year in a row at the Governor's Community Achievement | ||
| Awards Dinner, while at the Keep Texas Beautiful Awards luncheon, | ||
| science teacher Laurie Merrick of the Allen Independent School | ||
| District received the 2012 Sadie Ray Graff Educator Award, Randy | ||
| Boys was named Volunteer of the Year for his work with the Boy | ||
| Scouts and his efforts to organize Earthfest 2012, and Allen's | ||
| waste services provider, Community Waste Disposal, received the | ||
| Ebby Halliday-Maurice Acers Business and Industry Innovation | ||
| Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||

| prepared for Keep Allen Beautiful as an expression of high regard | ||
| by the Texas Senate. | ||
