SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 319
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Paul S. Lewis, who is retiring on February 28, 2017,
from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality after 38 years
of outstanding service with the state; and
WHEREAS, Paul Lewis began his career in state service in 1979
with the Texas Department of Water Resources; he remained with the
agency through three name changes as it became the Texas Water
Commission, the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission,
and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality; and
WHEREAS, His first assignment with the agency was in the
Underground Injection Control program; he went on to play an
important role in developing protocols for groundwater
compliance and protection issues; he is retiring from his
position in the Remediation Division, Office of Waste; and
WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, he has handled his many
responsibilities throughout his career with exceptional
efficiency and dedication; he has done outstanding work in
furthering the public understanding of the Risk Reduction Rules
of 1993 and the Texas Risk Reduction Program Rule of 1999; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and
admired by his colleagues, and his presence with the Texas
Commission on Environmental Quality will be greatly missed; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Paul S. Lewis on his exceptional
service to the people of Texas as an employee of the Texas
Commission on Environmental Quality and extend to him best wishes
for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
