| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize John Hrncir, who is retiring after three decades of | ||
| exceptional service with the City of Austin; and | ||
| WHEREAS, John Hrncir entered into service with the city in | ||
| 1985, after having worked with the Lower Colorado River Authority; | ||
| he became the city's government relations officer in 1992; and | ||
| WHEREAS, During his tenure as government relations | ||
| officer, he has played a vital role in working with members of the | ||
| Texas Legislature to ensure that Austin's interests receive a | ||
| fair hearing; since 1992, more than 90 percent of the outcomes on | ||
| key bills in the legislature relating to Austin have been | ||
| positive for the city; and | ||
| WHEREAS, As leader of the city's lobby team, he helped the | ||
| city to secure more than $35 million in federal funding, including | ||
| $11 million from the United States Army Corps of Engineers to | ||
| purchase flood-damaged property along Onion Creek; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and | ||
| admired by his colleagues, and his presence with the City of | ||
| Austin will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend John Hrncir on his exceptional | ||
| service to the people of Austin as the city's government | ||
| relations officer and extend to him best wishes for continued | ||
| success in all his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
