SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 3
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Deputy Chief Tammy Ellzey, who is retiring after 33
  years of outstanding service with the Dallas Police Department;
  and
         WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ellzey joined the Dallas Police
  Department on January 7, 1980, as a patrol officer with the
  Southwest Patrol Division; she rose through the ranks to achieve
  the position of deputy chief, holding along the way such
  important posts as supervisor for the executive assistant chief
  of the Patrol Bureau and commander for four multi-agency federal
  task forces; and
         WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ellzey has played a vital role in the
  reduction of crime rates in the districts under her command and
  has received numerous commendations for her work, including a
  Unit Certificate of Merit Award, Officer of the Month, and the
  Shining Star Award; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Deputy Chief Ellzey has
  been noted for her impressive leadership abilities and her
  commitment to public service; she has handled the unique
  challenges of law enforcement duty with courage,
  professionalism, and integrity; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary peace officer, she is respected and
  admired by her colleagues and by the citizens of Dallas, and her
  presence at the Dallas Police Department will be greatly missed;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Deputy Chief
  Tammy Ellzey on her commitment to making Dallas a safer place in
  which to live, work, and raise a family and extend to her best
  wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
