SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 153
         WHEREAS, The 107th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed
  cause for celebration, and Janette Gillespie of Whitehouse
  marked this tremendous milestone in her life on January 30, 2017,
  in the company of family and friends; and
         WHEREAS, Born to the Reverend Eugene Holmes and Jennie
  Holmes in Dalhart in 1910, the former Janette Holmes attended Lon
  Morris College in Jacksonville and went on to complete her
  bachelor's degree in commerce and economics at Texas Christian
  University; she taught business administration at Lon Morris
  College and was later employed at a number of Jacksonville
  companies until her retirement; and
         WHEREAS, She married Lowell Emmett Gillespie in McKinney
  on September 14, 1933, and they became the proud parents of a
  daughter, Janan, and a son, Gary; through the years,
  Mrs. Gillespie has known the joy of welcoming six grandchildren,
  12 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren into
  her treasured family; she and her husband shared a fulfilling
  relationship until his death in 1989; and
         WHEREAS, On the occasion of her 107th birthday,
  Mrs. Gillespie was honored by Texas Christian University as the
  school's oldest alumnus; she ascribes her longevity to "the good
  Lord, good family, and good food"; and
         WHEREAS, Janette Gillespie has witnessed a panorama of
  change over the course of more than a century, and she has met
  life's challenges and opportunities with dignity and grace,
  earning the deep admiration of all who are privileged to know
  her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Janette Gillespie on her 107th
  birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Mrs. Gillespie as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
