SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 147
         WHEREAS, Bobby Glenn Tucker marked his 50th anniversary in
  the ministry on July 29, 2017, at his home church, Rose Hill
  Baptist Church near Mineola; and
         WHEREAS, Now the associate pastor of Antioch Baptist
  Church in Conway, Arkansas, Bobby Tucker attended Rose Hill
  Baptist as a boy; called to the ministry when he was only 12, he
  delivered his first sermon the following year, and as a
  14-year-old, he conducted his first wedding service, for his
  sister, Betty Gamble, and her husband, Tom; as a teen, he found
  many opportunities to preach and minister in Wood County, even
  filling in while Hainesville Baptist Church was without a pastor
  for more than a year; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Tucker graduated from Mineola High School
  in 1973 and traveled extensively as Texas FFA president and national
  FFA president before going on to attend Texas A&M University; as
  a student, he was active in reviving the college ministry at
  Beacon Baptist Church in Bryan, and after graduating in 1979, he
  entered the Baptist Missionary Association and served as a youth
  minister at Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie; and
         WHEREAS, Early in his career, this esteemed clergyman served
  as youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas;
  he worked for the state Baptist Missionary Association and then
  accepted a position in the youth department for the national
  association, based in Texarkana; returning to Texas A&M University
  around the turn of the century, he completed his master's degree
  while also serving as an assistant director of student activities
  and advisor to the student government association; subsequently,
  he was director of the Association of Baptist Students for a
  number of years; he then worked briefly in Washington, D.C.,
  before joining Antioch Baptist in 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of a half century, Pastor Tucker
  has set an inspiring example of faith in action, and countless
  are those who have benefited from his guidance, wise counsel, and
  able leadership; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Bobby Tucker
  on his 50th anniversary in the ministry and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Pastor Tucker as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
