SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Arthur Jim Green Jr.
 
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with
  the passing of Arthur Jim Green Jr. of Powderly on May 31, 2017,
  at the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Arthur and Effie Green, Arthur Green
  Jr. was born on June 5, 1924, in Wood County, and he grew up in the
  company of his four siblings, Tilman, Lon, Freda, and Joe Bob;
  possessed of the courage that marked the finest members of his
  generation, he joined the United States Navy during World War II
  and served on the USS Epping Forest in the Pacific theater; and
         WHEREAS, Following an honorable discharge from the
  military, Mr. Green began a successful career with the Dallas
  Fire Department in 1948; he retired as a captain in 1975, after 27
  years of dedicated service; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Green married the former Ada Lee "Tot"
  Treadway on July 16, 1944, and the couple went on to share a
  rewarding marriage that spanned seven decades, until her passing
  in 2015; Mr. Green was the proud father of four children, Judy,
  Danny, Bonnie, and Connie, and over the years, he had the pleasure
  of welcoming 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren into
  his family; a man of strong faith, he was a valued congregant and
  deacon at Chicota Baptist Church; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his community,
  and his country, Arthur Green earned the respect and admiration
  of all who were fortunate enough to know him, and he will forever
  be a source of inspiration to those he leaves behind; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Arthur Jim Green Jr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to his
  family and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Arthur Green.
