SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the members of the Daniels Cross Elks Lodge 1578, who are
  gathering in Dallas on June 3, 2023, to celebrate the renaming of
  the lodge in honor of Olious Donald "O. D." Evans Sr.; and
         WHEREAS, Part of the Improved Benevolent and Protective
  Order of Elks of the World, Daniels Cross Elks Lodge 1578 was
  founded in 1967 with 25 inaugural members; named in honor of
  William A. Daniels and John Cross, the organization works to
  promote the principles of charity, justice, brotherly love, and
  fidelity; and
         WHEREAS, The organization's new name, Daniels Cross Evans
  Elks Lodge 1578, pays tribute to the legacy of a longtime
  member of the lodge; after joining in 1968, the late O. D.
  Evans held a number of leadership positions with the
  organization; a highly respected and adept leader, O. D. Evans
  was elected Exalted Ruler in 1996 and, as the executive
  officer, continued to serve in the role for more than two
  decades; he was also president of the Texas Elks State
  Association and held national office as the Grand Esteemed
  Lecturing Knight from 1998 until his passing in 2021; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, the lodge's members have
  maintained a proud tradition of service and fellowship, and it is
  a privilege to join them in recognizing the 52 years of service
  and dedication of O. D. Evans to Elks Lodge 1578 on this important
  milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the
  rededication of Daniels Cross Evans Elks Lodge 1578 and extend to
  its members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special occasion.
