A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the dedication of a portion of state lottery proceeds to
  the funding of salary increases and bonuses for experienced public
  school classroom teachers and costs associated with school district
  teacher retirement contributions.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 466.355, Government Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
         (d)  Of the money transferred to the foundation school fund
  under Subsection (b)(4)(B) in each state fiscal year, 50 percent
  shall be used only for funding salary increases for public school
  classroom teachers with at least six years of teaching experience
  and school district costs exclusively associated with teacher
  retirement contributions authorized by this section, and any
  portion of the 50 percent remaining after giving priority to
  funding for those purposes shall be used for funding bonuses to
  public school classroom teachers with at least six years of
  teaching experience.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
