A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the waiting period following the issuance of a marriage |
|
|
license and the annulment of a marriage on grounds relating to that |
|
|
waiting period. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Sections 2.204 and 6.110, Family Code, are |
|
|
repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a marriage ceremony for which a marriage license application is |
|
|
filed on or after the effective date of this Act. A marriage |
|
|
ceremony for which a marriage license application is filed before |
|
|
the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on |
|
|
the date the application was filed, and the former law is continued |
|
|
in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
