relating to a prohibition on the application of certain pesticides | ||
at public school buildings and other facilities. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 1951.212(c), Occupations Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(c) The department shall include in standards adopted under | ||
this section a: | ||
(1) requirement to use the least toxic methods | ||
available to control pests, rodents, insects, and weeds; and | ||
(2) prohibition on the application of glyphosate or a | ||
neonicotinoid pesticide at a school building or other school | ||
district facility. | ||
SECTION 2. The Department of Agriculture shall adopt | ||
standards under Section 1951.212(c), Occupations Code, as amended | ||
by this Act, as soon as practicable after the effective date of this | ||
Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
