| before beginning certain projects with respect to the Alamo. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 31.451, Natural Resources Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | ||
| (e) The land office must consult with each American Indian | ||
| tribe, including federally recognized tribes and local tribes that | ||
| may not be officially recognized by the state or federal | ||
| government, that has a historical connection to the Alamo or the | ||
| area surrounding the Alamo complex before beginning any major | ||
| project to preserve, maintain, restore, or improve the Alamo or | ||
| Alamo complex. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | ||
