A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the mailing of passenger items prohibited beyond an |
|
airport's security screening to the passenger's residence; |
|
authorizing a fee. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 22, Transportation Code, |
|
is amended by adding Section 22.028 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 22.028. MAILING OF PROHIBITED ITEMS TO PASSENGER'S |
|
RESIDENCE. (a) An operator of an airport under this chapter: |
|
(1) shall provide passengers the option to mail to |
|
their residence an item prohibited beyond the airport's security |
|
screening; and |
|
(2) may charge a passenger a fee to mail the item in an |
|
amount not to exceed $30 plus the cost of mailing the item. |
|
(b) This section does not apply to an item that is: |
|
(1) seized in connection with an alleged offense; or |
|
(2) prohibited from being shipped by United States |
|
mail. |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
