BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 130.008, Education Code, is amended by | ||
amending Subsection (g-1) and adding Subsections (g-2) and (g-3) to | ||
read as follows: | ||
(g-1) A public junior college with a service area located | ||
wholly or partly in a county with a population of more than three | ||
million shall enter into an agreement with each school district | ||
located wholly or partly in a county with a population of more than | ||
three million to offer one or more courses as provided by this | ||
section. [ |

(g-2) A public junior college may enter into an agreement | ||
with any school district located in a county in which the service | ||
area of the junior college is wholly or partly located or in a | ||
county adjacent to a county in which the service area of the junior | ||
college is wholly or partly located to offer one or more courses as | ||
provided by this section. | ||
(g-3) A high school student enrolled in a school district | ||
may enroll in a course at any public junior college that has entered | ||
into an agreement with the district to offer the course under this | ||
section. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021 fall | ||
semester. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
