complete the required curriculum in public schools. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. (a) The State Board of Education shall conduct a | ||
study to determine, for kindergarten through 12th grade, the length | ||
of the instructional day and of the academic year that would be | ||
necessary to allow for the completion of the required curriculum | ||
identified by the board under Section 28.002, Education Code. | ||
(b) Not later than October 1, 2018, the board shall deliver | ||
a report containing the results of the study to the governor and the | ||
legislature. | ||
(c) This Act expires September 1, 2019. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
