| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 56.003, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | ||
| (a-1) An entity responsible for the local share of qualified | ||
| project costs under Subsection (a) must be: | ||
| (1) a navigation district created under Section 52, | ||
| Article III, or Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, and | ||
| operating under Chapter 60, 61, 62, or 63, Water Code; or | ||
| (2) a municipality or board of trustees under Chapter | ||
| 54. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
