R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Proud members of the Rodriguez family of Eagle Pass
  are gathering at the State Capitol to celebrate the 75 years of
  success of their business, Eagle Grocery; and
         WHEREAS, Also known to local residents as "La Tienda de Los
  Venados," Eagle Grocery was founded by two brothers, Joe and Albert
  Rodriguez, on Main Street in Eagle Pass in 1939; when Joe Rodriguez
  went away to serve in the armed forces during World War II, Albert
  stayed behind to run the store with his family; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, the store has become an institution
  in Eagle Pass; its soda fountain was popular with high school
  students, and its meat market still draws customers from around the
  region; and
         WHEREAS, In the 1980s, the store transferred to Joe's
  daughter, Angie Rodriguez, and her husband, Benny, and with the
  help of their children, Jaime and Magaly, they have maintained the
  proud legacy of Eagle Grocery; and
         WHEREAS, Family businesses are essential to the prosperity
  and well-being of Texas communities, and the Rodriguez family may
  indeed reflect with pride on their 75 years of serving their friends
  and neighbors in Eagle Pass; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize Eagle Grocery Day at the State Capitol
  and extend to the Rodriguez family sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Rodriguez family as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
