R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Former state representative Judy Hawley has been
  named a 2018 inductee of the Texas Transportation Hall of Honor, and
  this achievement is indeed a fitting acknowledgement of her
  outstanding record of service; and
         WHEREAS, Part of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, the
  Texas Transportation Hall of Honor recognizes individuals who have
  distinguished themselves as leaders in the state's transportation
  industry; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hawley was elected as state representative for
  Texas House District 31, and in the course of a legislative tenure
  that spanned from 1995 to 2003, she served as vice chair of the
  Transportation and Energy Resources Committees; she then continued
  to devote her time and expertise to transportation issues as a
  member of the Port of Corpus Christi Commission for more than a
  decade before retiring in 2016 as commission chair; and
         WHEREAS, Under Ms. Hawley's skillful guidance at the port
  commission, the Corpus Christi area saw significant rail and ship
  channel expansion that helped accommodate transportation needs
  related to energy and military deployment; this dynamic Texan also
  served as chair of the I-69 Advisory Committee, guiding the
  development of the corridor, which links ports, waterways, rail,
  airports, and highways throughout the state, and she has played an
  instrumental role in the U.S. Highway 181 Harbor Bridge replacement
  project; and
         WHEREAS, The prosperity of the Lone Star State depends on the
  safe and effective transportation of people and goods, and through
  her leadership, dedication, and vision, Judy Hawley has made
  significant contributions that will benefit her fellow citizens for
  years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Judy Hawley on her
  induction into the Texas Transportation Hall of Honor and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hawley as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
