R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Friends and family will long cherish their memories |
|
of Leona Pauline Dunbar Erekson, who passed away on July 9, 2017, at |
|
the age of 85; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born to Ned and Mary Leech Dunbar on November 9, |
|
1931, in Del Rio, the former Pauline Dunbar grew up with her |
|
brother, Allan, on a ranch between Del Rio and Rocksprings; after |
|
graduating from Rocksprings High School in 1949, she continued her |
|
education at Texas Tech University, and she later moved to Dallas to |
|
study photography; and |
|
WHEREAS, While in Dallas, she met her future husband, Bob |
|
Erekson, whom she wed on August 2, 1953; the couple became the proud |
|
parents of two children, Paula and Ronny, and with the passing |
|
years, they were further blessed with seven grandchildren, Walt, |
|
Karrah, Naomi, Ruth, Anna, Abigail, and Rebekah, and three |
|
great-grandchildren, Tilden, Emilie, and AnnElise; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Erekson pursued several careers over the |
|
course of her life, working for such diverse employers as the ASCS |
|
office, Rocksprings schools, and the Edwards County Hospital; she |
|
spent more than three decades with the Edwards County EMS as a |
|
medic, board member, and historian, and she also ran a flower and |
|
gift shop with her daughter for a time; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Erekson was a Sunday |
|
school teacher and a valued member of the Order of the Eastern Star, |
|
and she gave photography lessons through the local 4-H club; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pauline Erekson led a life filled with joy and |
|
purpose, and she leaves behind a record of service that her loved |
|
ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of Leona Pauline Dunbar Erekson and extend heartfelt sympathy to |
|
her relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Pauline |
|
Erekson. |
