R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Jane Meyers has rendered exceptional service to her |
|
community through her involvement with the Amarillo Botanical |
|
Gardens, which has spanned five decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Meyers began her work with what was known as |
|
the Amarillo Garden Center in 1969, bringing along her passions for |
|
gardening and people; in the years since, she has served the gardens |
|
in numerous capacities, including as a tour guide, teacher, and |
|
recruiter, and she guided the organization as director from 1979 to |
|
1992; in recognition of her unparalleled commitment to the center, |
|
a mosaic that adorns the entrance to the gardens was installed in |
|
her honor in 2017, and that same year, she received an Amarillo |
|
Globe-News Headliner Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to her dedicated efforts in behalf of |
|
the Amarillo Botanical Gardens, Mrs. Meyers has shared her time and |
|
talents with a number of garden clubs; she has also held leadership |
|
positions in the Widowed Persons Service club and has delivered for |
|
Meals on Wheels for some two decades, and she has been an active |
|
member of Hillside Christian Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Amarillo Botanical Gardens has been a source of |
|
enjoyment for countless area residents and visitors alike, and Jane |
|
Meyers has contributed immeasurably to the vitality of this natural |
|
oasis through her skilled and devoted stewardship; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Jane Meyers for her 50 years of service to |
|
the Amarillo Botanical Gardens and extend to her sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Meyers as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
