R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Austin-based band Wood & Wire was nominated for a |
|
Grammy Award for the 2019 Best Bluegrass Album for North of Despair; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Formed in 2011, Wood & Wire includes |
|
guitarist-vocalist Tony Kamel, mandolinist Billy Bright, banjo |
|
player Trevor Smith, and Dominic Fisher on upright bass; and |
|
WHEREAS, The group has recorded three full-length studio LPs, |
|
as well as two EPs and a live album; after honing their latest songs |
|
during three solid years on the road, the members elected to record |
|
North of Despair in Dripping Springs; they cut the tracks mostly |
|
live to tape, using only minimal editing, in order to retain the |
|
energy of their concerts; and |
|
WHEREAS, Wood & Wire has represented Texas admirably on the |
|
bluegrass scene, and these talented musicians may take justifiable |
|
pride in this well-deserved national recognition; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Wood & Wire on its nomination for a |
|
Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album and extend to the members |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
