H.R. No. 43

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Vashaundra Edwards has been elected to the Missouri
City Council, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition;
and
WHEREAS, In fulfilling the duties of her office, Ms. Edwards
draws on a wealth of valuable experience; she grew up in the
community and as a student at Thurgood Marshall High School, she
volunteered extensively, setting the stage for a career in public
service; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Edwards went on to complete her bachelor's
degree in criminal justice at the University of Houston-Downtown
and became a probation officer for Missouri City; dedicated to
mentoring young people, she has given generously of her time and
talents to at-risk youth in Fort Bend and Harris Counties; she is
also especially committed to addressing inequities in economic
development across the city; and
WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of
life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts
of Vashaundra Edwards will help to make Missouri City an even better
place in which to live and work; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Vashaundra Edwards on her election
to the Missouri City Council and extend to her sincere best wishes
for a successful tenure; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Edwards as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
