	H.R. No. 348



	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Guadalupe Chavez of Lamesa celebrated her 105th
	birthday on July 26, 2017, in the company of family and friends; and
	WHEREAS, Born in Oakville in 1912, she married Ezekiel
	Chavez, and they became the proud parents of five children;
	Mrs. Chavez helped support her family by working as a seamstress,
	and she also raised Chihuahua dogs; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Chavez moved to Lamesa in 1951, and
	they shared many happy years together before his passing in 1990; in
	2016, the city recognized Mrs. Chavez by proclaiming July 26 as
	Guadalupe Chavez Day; and
	WHEREAS, Since 2010, Mrs. Chavez has resided at Sage Healthcare
	Center, where her kind and cheerful nature brightens
	the days for
	staff members and fellow residents alike; she is the treasured
	matriarch of a very large extended family that includes 37
	grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren, and 164
	great-great-grandchildren, as well as two additional generations of
	descendants; and
	WHEREAS, Guadalupe Chavez has witnessed a panorama of change
	over the course of more than a century, and she has met life's
	challenges and opportunities with dignity and grace, earning the
	deep admiration of all who are privileged to know her; now,
	therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
	Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Guadalupe
	Chavez on her 105th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes
	for continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Mrs. Chavez as an expression of high regard by the
	Texas House of Representatives.
