R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Katherine Smart has ably served her fellow Texans as
  a legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gilbert
  Peña during the 84th Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Smart's resourcefulness and initiative have
  earned the appreciation of her colleagues, and her contributions to
  carrying forth Representative Peña's legislative agenda have
  helped address issues facing citizens across the Lone Star State;
  and
         WHEREAS, After earning a bachelor's degree in sociology from
  Texas A&M University, Ms. Smart attended Florida Metropolitan
  University and attained a master's degree in criminology; she has
  previously worked for a number of government agencies in Austin,
  including the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Internal
  Revenue Service, and the Travis County District Clerk's Office; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed public employee has performed her
  duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is
  indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Katherine Smart for her service as a
  legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gilbert Peña
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all
  her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Smart as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
