R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Dumas lost an admired community
  leader with the death of Mark Stroebel on May 13, 2014, at the age of
  56; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Lubbock on January 7, 1958, to Andrew
  William and Catherine Dodd Stroebel, Mark Stroebel graduated from
  Olton High School in 1976 and earned his bachelor's degree from
  Texas Tech University in 1982; he went on to obtain a master's
  degree in educational administration from West Texas State
  University in 1988; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Stroebel began his career in public education as
  a teacher and coach at Hart High School in 1981; he was promoted to
  athletic director and assistant principal two years later and to
  principal in 1988; in 1992, he transferred to Dumas Junior High
  School, and during his 13-year tenure there, the school received a
  2000 National Blue Ribbon Schools award; in 2005, Mr. Stroebel was
  appointed assistant superintendent of the Dumas Independent School
  District and in 2011, he was named superintendent; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was also a member of the
  Dumas/Moore County Chamber of Commerce and the Dumas Noon Lions
  Club, and he served on many councils at the First United Methodist
  Church; in his leisure hours, he took pleasure in trout fishing in
  the Red River; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Stroebel enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Jo, with whom he shared nearly 33 years,
  and he took great pride in their children, Brandon, Andrea, and
  Shae; and
         WHEREAS, Mark Stroebel devoted more than three decades of his
  life to educating young Texans, and he will be remembered with
  admiration and affection by all who had the good fortune to know
  him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mark Stroebel and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Jo Stroebel; to his children, Brandon Stroebel and his wife,
  Kaysha, Andrea Broxson and her husband, Chance, and Shae Stroebel;
  to his parents, Andrew William and Catherine Stroebel; to his
  brothers, Vance Stroebel and Stan Stroebel and his wife, Misty; to
  his mother-in-law, Joan Adair; to his brother-in-law, Kerry Adair,
  and his wife, Anita; to his nieces and nephews, Dillon, Aarika,
  Kody, Kyle, Austin, Alex, and Kori; and to his other friends and
  loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mark
  Stroebel.
