H.R. No. 2841

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and
talents to benefit their fellow citizens make the world a better
place through their actions and their example, and Dr. Charles Ku
is being recognized for his exceptional community service by being
named a recipient of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership Award; and
WHEREAS, A practicing dentist in Lewisville since 1974,
Dr. Ku has demonstrated his commitment to the Dallas-Fort Worth
area through his involvement in a wide variety of organizations,
from the Dallas Red Cross to the Asian Chamber of Commerce to the
Richardson Independent School District; he currently holds
membership in the Lewisville Noon Rotary Club, the Super Bowl XLV
Host Committee, the University of North Texas College of Arts and
Sciences Advisory Board, the Dallas Baptist University Board of
Trustees, the World Affairs Council of DFW Board of Directors, the
Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of DFW Board of Directors, and the
Dallas-Taipei Sister City Committee, of which he is chair; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ku has founded Chinese language and culture
schools as well as a retirement community and an adult day care
center in the area, and he serves as a deacon at First Baptist
Church of Lewisville; furthermore, he has been appointed to the
State Board of Dental Examiners, the Federal Commission on
Apprenticeship, and the Statewide Health Coordinating Council, and
the president of Taiwan has named him an overseas Chinese
commissioner; and
WHEREAS, The strength and unity of our cities are enhanced by
the devoted efforts of individuals such as Charles Ku, whose
tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life
in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Charles Ku on his receipt of a
2015 Profiles in Leadership Award and commend him on his exemplary
record of civic engagement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Ku as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
