R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Omar Figueroa Jr. and Brandon Lee Figueroa of
  Weslaco have distinguished themselves as exceptional boxers by
  recording a series of ring victories, including their recent
  triumphs at the Premier Boxing Champions show on July 15, 2017, in
  Uniondale, New York; and
         WHEREAS, The sons of Omar Figueroa Sr. and Judith Figueroa,
  the Figueroa brothers were introduced to boxing by their father and
  have excelled in the sport from an early age; older brother Omar
  "Panterita" Figueroa Jr. has led the way, becoming a world champion
  in the 135-pound weight class and compiling an unbeaten record;
  Brandon Lee "Heartbreaker" Figueroa is an up-and-coming fighter
  who, like his brother, has yet to lose a match; the Premier Boxing
  Champions contest marked the first time the duo has appeared
  together on a fight card since 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Omar Figueroa Jr. stepped into the ring in Uniondale
  after having spent more than a year recovering from injuries;
  proving that he is once again in top form, he earned a decisive
  victory in the welterweight main event, overcoming his opponent,
  Robert Guerrero, in just three rounds and garnering his 19th career
  knockout; and
         WHEREAS, Competing in a junior featherweight bout, Brandon
  Lee Figueroa also turned in a dominant performance in his
  eight-round showdown with Fatiou Fassinou; he landed 41 percent of
  his punches in the match to win by a unanimous decision and extend
  his record to 13 victories and zero defeats; and
         WHEREAS, These skilled fighters are building a family legacy
  of boxing excellence, and in so doing, they have become a source of
  great pride to their fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Omar Figueroa
  Jr. and Brandon Lee Figueroa on their achievements in the sport of
  boxing and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Figueroa brothers as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
