| WHEREAS, Xinran Liu is graduating as the valedictorian of the | ||
| senior class of Kingwood High School on May 28, 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only | ||
| intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the | ||
| highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, | ||
| "Lilly" Liu demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range | ||
| of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted | ||
| to her studies are myriad; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Liu has distinguished herself as a member of the | ||
| National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society, and | ||
| as a recipient of the Congressional Service Award; a member of the | ||
| Houston Youth Symphony and orchestra, she was named Outstanding | ||
| Soloist in University Interscholastic League competition, and she | ||
| has been awarded Greentree Elementary and Kingwood Orchestra | ||
| scholarships; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The daughter of Liangjian and Yanlu Liu, Ms. Liu | ||
| plans to attend Duke University and pursue a degree in economics; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Lilly Liu has earned the respect and admiration of | ||
| her teachers and classmates at Kingwood High, and her exceptional | ||
| scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have | ||
| opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young | ||
| Texan; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Lilly Liu on being named | ||
| valedictorian of the Kingwood High School Class of 2011 and extend | ||
| to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the | ||
| next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Liu as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
