| WHEREAS, Lucky Olivas of Lamesa High School has distinguished | ||
| herself by winning second place in the prepared speech contest at | ||
| the Business Professionals of America 2017 National Leadership | ||
| Conference, held in Orlando, Florida, May 10-14; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Business Professionals of America seeks to prepare | ||
| students for future careers in business management, office | ||
| administration, information technology, and other related fields | ||
| through the development of leadership, citizenship, academic, and | ||
| technological skills; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After excelling at the state finals, Ms. Olivas | ||
| advanced to the National Leadership Conference, where she was one | ||
| of only four students to represent Texas in the prepared speech | ||
| event; there, she impressed judges with her address regarding | ||
| entrepreneurship in the food truck industry and secured a | ||
| second-place finish; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through her involvement in the BPA National | ||
| Leadership Conference, this admirable young Texan is building a | ||
| strong foundation for future success, and she may indeed reflect | ||
| with pride on her notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Lucky Olivas on winning second | ||
| place in the prepared speech contest at the BPA 2017 National | ||
| Leadership Conference and extend to her sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Olivas as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
