| WHEREAS, Former state representative Bill G. Carter is | ||
| celebrating his 65th anniversary with State Farm Insurance, and | ||
| this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize him for | ||
| his outstanding record of achievement; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Carter began | ||
| his exemplary tenure with State Farm in October 1951, when he | ||
| accepted a managerial position in Panhandle; four years later, he | ||
| moved to Haltom City and opened his own State Farm office, which is | ||
| still in operation today; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In 1984, Mr. Carter was elected as state | ||
| representative for Texas House District 91; over the course of a | ||
| legislative tenure that spanned nearly two decades, he served as | ||
| chair of the Urban Affairs and Public Safety Committees; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has further given back to his | ||
| community as a lifetime member and chair of the Northeast Tarrant | ||
| Chamber of Commerce and as president of the North Texas Vocational | ||
| Education Program; he is also a longtime member of the Fort Worth | ||
| Lions Club and Toastmasters; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Carter is blessed with a fine family that | ||
| includes his 4 children, Greg, Nancy, Linda, and Janet, and 2 | ||
| stepsons, Carr and Kenton, as well as 15 grandchildren and 8 | ||
| great-grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and | ||
| commitment to excellence, Bill Carter has earned the lasting | ||
| respect of his colleagues and customers alike, and he is indeed | ||
| deserving of special recognition on this important milestone in his | ||
| career; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commend Bill G. Carter for his 65 years of | ||
| service to State Farm Insurance and extend to him sincere best | ||
| wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Carter as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
