R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Jonathan Horn and Kadan Mantooth of Cal Farley's
  Boys Ranch distinguished themselves by qualifying for the 2018
  Wrangler Junior National Finals Rodeo, which took place December 6
  through 15 in Las Vegas; and
         WHEREAS, The pair made history as the first Boys Ranch
  representatives to advance to the Junior National Finals Rodeo;
  Mr. Horn competed in bareback riding and saw his performance in Las
  Vegas come to an end after suffering an injury in the first round;
  Mr. Mantooth took part in saddle bronc riding, ultimately finishing
  in 11th place; these talented cowboys have trained together for
  four years, participating in the annual Boys Ranch Rodeo and in
  numerous high school rodeos; and
         WHEREAS, By qualifying for the Wrangler Junior NFR, Mr. Horn
  and Mr. Mantooth earned a place among the top youth rodeo athletes
  from around the nation; a record number of 700-plus competitors
  were included in the 2018 event, demonstrating their skills in
  eight events: bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding,
  steer wrestling, barrel racing, breakaway roping, tie-down roping,
  and team roping; and
         WHEREAS, To perform at the highest level in the demanding
  sport of rodeo requires not only skill but also exceptional
  dedication, and these fine young Texans may reflect with pride on
  this notable achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jonathan Horn and Kadan Mantooth on
  qualifying for the 2018 Wrangler Junior National Finals Rodeo and
  extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Horn and Mr. Mantooth as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
