R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jessica Bonilla of Irving has earned great
  distinction by winning the 2023 Big Tex Boot Design Contest hosted
  by the State Fair of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, An icon of the State Fair of Texas, the Big Tex
  statue measures 55 feet tall and is outfitted with size 96 cowboy
  boots that span more than 10 feet in length and weigh some 900
  pounds; over the years, the massive boots have featured artwork by a
  number of different Texas artists, and Ms. Bonilla has been
  selected from among more than 300 entrants to update the design; she
  will work closely with the Texas State Fair and designers from
  Lucchese Bootmaker to paint her artwork onto Big Tex; her winning
  design depicts native plants and animals in a Texas canyon at
  sunset; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Bonilla is a licensed social worker, and she
  holds degrees from the University of North Texas and The University
  of Texas at Arlington; a gifted artist, she has displayed her work
  at pop-up markets throughout North Texas; and
         WHEREAS, With her success in the Big Tex Boot Design Contest,
  Jessica Bonilla has demonstrated great talent and dedication in the
  pursuit of her goals, and she may take justifiable pride in this
  notable achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jessica Bonilla on winning the 2023
  Big Tex Boot Design Contest and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Bonilla as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
