R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and |
|
|
generosity of Betty Lynn Pittman Hobgood of Happy, who passed away |
|
|
on May 13, 2017, at the age of 76; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Cranford and Dixie Pittman, the |
|
|
former Betty Pittman was born on July 23, 1940, in Hale County; she |
|
|
grew up near Petersburg with her brother, Billy, and sister, Sammie |
|
|
Jo, and attended Petersburg High School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Hobgood worked for many years in the Abernathy |
|
|
school library; after moving to Happy in 1982, she held positions |
|
|
with Happy Grain and then with the Swisher County Treasurer's |
|
|
Office; she retired in 2010 as the Swisher County librarian; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On February 14, 1959, she married Charles Hobgood, |
|
|
and the couple became the proud parents of a son, Jason, and two |
|
|
daughters, Gay and Jorene; with the passing years, her life was |
|
|
further enriched by six grandchildren, Amber, Julie, Clint, Justin, |
|
|
Lacy, and Jacob; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This treasured woman was blessed over the past two |
|
|
decades with the companionship of Clyde Hancock, with whom she |
|
|
shared abundant love and laughter; she relished travel and counted |
|
|
a 2013 family trip to New York City as one of her favorite |
|
|
experiences; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sustained by her strong faith and possessed of a |
|
|
generous, irrepressible spirit, Betty Hobgood brought joy to the |
|
|
lives of all who knew her, and they will forever hold her close in |
|
|
their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Betty Lynn Pittman |
|
|
Hobgood and extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and many |
|
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty |
|
|
Hobgood. |
