R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The members of the Texas A&M University Corps of
  Cadets Marksmanship Unit made an outstanding showing at the
  Scholastic Action Shooting Program national collegiate
  championship, held in Talladega, Alabama, on March 11, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Competing against other top squads from across the
  nation, the Texas A&M CCMU shooters were paced by the Maroon
  Centerfire Team, which clinched the unit's third national
  championship title in the past four years; the squad was composed of
  cadets John Burton, Nicholas Mrak, Wade Ledbetter, and Kyle Post,
  who earned the High Overall Centerfire Shooter Award for recording
  an impressive time of 44.55 seconds; and
         WHEREAS, The unit was also proudly represented in centerfire
  competition by two other teams, with a second-place finish from the
  foursome of Peter Miller, Sam Slichter, Kit Hoog, and Steven
  Bartlett and a fourth-place finish from the quartet of John Voss,
  David McBrayer, Seth Abbott, and Savannah Butters, who received the
  High Lady trophy after logging a time of 60.6 seconds; and
         WHEREAS, Benefiting from the guidance of head coach Kevin
  Jimmerson and military advisor Gunnery Sergeant (Ret.) Chad Parker,
  the unit has also received valuable contributions from the other
  members of its roster: Parker Zaitz, Jason Sartor, Bailey Lawson,
  Nathan Schwebel, Lee Dimaculangan, Brendan Gould, Clay Tennies,
  Jordan Anderson, Garrett Griffis, Jacob Locke, Joseph Clayburn,
  Lorin Heller, and Chris Hernandez; and
         WHEREAS, These talented sharpshooters have distinguished
  themselves as top performers on the national stage, and they may
  take justifiable pride in their notable accomplishments; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Texas A&M University Corps of
  Cadets Marksmanship Unit on its outstanding success at the 2017
  Scholastic Action Shooting Program national collegiate
  championship and extend to each of its members sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the unit as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
