WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and | ||
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends | ||
of Eugenie Avery of Winnetka, Illinois, who passed away on | ||
September 9, 2013, at the age of 103; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Jean Avery graduated | ||
from Smith College; in 1934, she married William H. Avery, and the | ||
couple raised three children, Nancy, Cameron, and Richard; with the | ||
passing years, their family grew to include a son-in-law, Paul | ||
Pressler, and two daughters-in-law, Lynn Donaldson and Judy Avery, | ||
as well as 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, This civic-minded individual participated in a | ||
number of worthy organizations and groups, including the Winnetka | ||
Presbyterian Church, which she served as an elder and deacon; she | ||
was also a member of the Fortnightly of Chicago, the Antiquarian | ||
Society of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Town and Country Arts | ||
Club, and the Kenilworth Garden Club; and | ||
WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family and admiring friends, | ||
Jean Avery was a source of joy and inspiration to all who shared in | ||
the richness of her life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Eugenie Avery and | ||
extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her | ||
children, Nancy Pressler and her husband, Paul, Cameron Avery and | ||
his wife, Lynn Donaldson, and Richard Avery and his wife, Judy; to | ||
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to her other | ||
relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jean Avery. | ||
