R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Maria Teresa Rios-Vera of Corpus Christi on January 3, |
|
2017; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Martin and Manuela Rios, Terry |
|
Rios-Vera was a native of Corpus Christi, where she graduated from |
|
Roy Miller High School and studied library science at Del Mar |
|
College; she married Martin G. Vera, and the couple were blessed |
|
with two children, Dr. Nancy Vera and Roger Vera, whose education |
|
Mrs. Rios-Vera prioritized above all else; their fine family later |
|
grew to include a daughter-in-law, Emma, and three grandchildren, |
|
Aaron, Amy, and Simon; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Rios-Vera enjoyed a rewarding 37-year career |
|
with the Corpus Christi Independent School District, from which she |
|
retired in 2003; during her tenure with CCISD, she established |
|
libraries at Travis and Menger Elementary Schools, and she worked |
|
as a library and media specialist at Roy Miller High School; she was |
|
also an avid reader and an exceptional musician; and |
|
WHEREAS, Admired for her strength, wisdom, and joyful spirit, |
|
Terry Rios-Vera will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of |
|
her friends and loved ones; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maria Teresa |
|
Rios-Vera and extend sincere condolences to all those who mourn her |
|
passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns on this day, it do so in memory of Terry |
|
Rios-Vera. |
