R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Lori Barnett Dodson concluded her tenure as a member |
|
of the Garland City Council in May 2017, drawing to a close six |
|
years of distinguished service in that office; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Garland, Ms. Dodson serves as a |
|
certified public accountant with the real estate investment fund |
|
E2M Partners; she first became involved in local government when |
|
she began working with the city council and the parks and recreation |
|
department to get trees installed in the Shiloh Road median; |
|
admired for her civic engagement, she went on to join the Plan |
|
Commission in 2006, and she was elected in May 2011 as the city |
|
council representative for District 6; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Dodson has further contributed to her community |
|
through her efforts in behalf of the West Garland Neighborhood |
|
Association, the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, the |
|
Garland Police Criminal Investigative Division, and the Senior |
|
Source Money Management Program; in addition, she has given |
|
generously of her time and talents to the Garland Parent-Teacher |
|
Association and the North Garland Little League and Band Booster |
|
Associations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Public servants improve the quality of life for |
|
their fellow Texans in innumerable ways, and Lori Dodson has helped |
|
to make Garland an even better place in which to live and work; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Lori Barnett Dodson on her |
|
retirement from the Garland City Council and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Dodson as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
