R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The International Junior Miss Scholarship Program
  is dedicated to encouraging achievement among girls and young women
  by helping them to build poise and self-confidence; and
         WHEREAS, Each year, the International Junior Miss
  organization awards scholarships to contestants who have achieved
  distinction in academics or volunteer service, who have
  demonstrated remarkable talent, or who have shown special ability
  in categories such as modeling and public speaking; and
         WHEREAS, The Lone Star State is well represented in the
  International Junior Miss Scholarship Program; many exceptional
  young Texans have competed in the six age categories, taking
  advantage of opportunities to gain experience both on stage and in
  an interview setting; and
         WHEREAS, Through participation in International Junior Miss,
  contestants are learning valuable skills and developing a
  commitment to excellence that will serve them well as they work
  toward their goals in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize May 8, 2015, as International Junior
  Miss Texas Day.
