H.R. No. 2209

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rosemary Shugert Cross and Thornton Young of Argyle
will begin a new chapter in their lives on May 19, 2017, for on that
day they are embarking on their journey together as husband and
wife; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Class of 1962 at Burges High School in
El Paso, "Mamie" Cross and "Thorny" Young reconnected in 2012 while
planning and attending their 50th high school reunion; they met
again a few months later at an alumni brunch organized by Ms. Cross
and began dating soon after; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Cross and Mr. Young are exchanging the vows of
matrimony in a ceremony at the Little Chapel in the Woods on the
Texas Woman's University campus in Denton; the occasion will bring
together their close-knit circle of friends and family, including
Ms. Cross's two children and five grandchildren and Mr. Young's two
children and four grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mamie Cross and Thorny Young have been blessed with
a relationship that has grown in love, respect, and understanding
with each passing day, and it is truly a pleasure to congratulate
them on their good fortune in finding one another; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Rosemary "Mamie" Shugert Cross and
Thornton "Thorny" Young on their wedding and extend to them sincere
best wishes for a lifetime of happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
