R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, David, Destan, and Carter Hodges of Hodges Farms in |
|
White Deer received a Blue Legacy Award during Texas Water Day at |
|
the State Capitol on March 13, 2019; and |
|
WHEREAS, Presented by the Water Conservation Advisory |
|
Council and the Texas Water Development Board, the prestigious Blue |
|
Legacy Award recognizes responsible management of water and |
|
showcases outstanding examples of effective water stewardship; and |
|
WHEREAS, Hodges Farms was honored in the |
|
agriculture-producer category for its water conservation efforts |
|
in recent years; through their participation in the Panhandle |
|
Groundwater Conservation District's Rainwater Harvesting |
|
Rebate/Loan Program, the family has installed three new rainwater |
|
harvesting tanks; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Hodges have collected more than 700,000 gallons |
|
of water, and this achievement has allowed them to continue their |
|
spraying operation and water their livestock without pumping any |
|
groundwater; in addition, Hodges Farms further conserves |
|
groundwater by rotating crops and keeping up to date with current |
|
agricultural best practices; and |
|
WHEREAS, Water preservation is a matter of urgency across the |
|
Lone Star State, and Hodges Farms has set a standard of excellence |
|
to which others may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Hodges Farms on its receipt of a |
|
2019 Blue Legacy Award and extend to the Hodges family sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Hodges Farms as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
